It is been EONs since I last blogged, tat I've almost forgotten my username and password to log on.
Anyways, I wanted to know what all these buzz about the Slumdog Millionaire was about...I know, a bit too late, but nonetheless....you know what they say: late than never!! So, I was browsing through the throngs of reviews on the web and when I realised that the show was an adaptation of a book by Vikas Swarup, I made a chase for the book. In any case, from the reviews, I realised that the show was nothing like the book from which it was adapted from. And as usual, when I learn that a movie is an adapation of a book, I'd rather read the book first. So, I bought the book and started reading it with soooooo much expectation, especially since it's been some time since I had a good read.
To my disappointment, the book is no page-turner. I am halfway through the book and I so wish I hadn't started. To start off with, the titles of the chapters are in no way connected to the climax of each chapter, which is the Q&A session of the game, where Thomas Mohammed Ram (known as Jamal in the movie of course) answers each question correctly based on recounts of incidences in his life that has led him to the right answers. The intriguing thing is that how a teenager of his age, with NO educational background, can retain so much technical info, especially in the chapter where he recounts a soldier telling him minute details of a war that he was in.
But well, since I have started on the book, I hold a duty towards it to complete it....hope it gets interesting alteast in the second half!!!

NEW HOME- COORDINATIONS & LIAISONS
Looks like I was in shock way tooooooooooooo long!!! Reeling out of that minor shock, here I start writing again.
I realize it is not easy creating a home. There is this proverb in my native language that says “Try building a house, try conducting a wedding” – to depict the fact that neither of these acts are easy. There are like a million co-ordinations to be done, and it makes it that much more tough without being at the site daily to monitor the progress. The interior designer, including, is so prone of giving me surprises every now and then, while at work. But then again, I guess renovating part of the house and leaving the rest untouched is the best way to invite trouble, if you don’t intend to maintain your presence at the site. Incidences of one or two chipped tiles have cropped up since hacking work started.
We in full for the bathroom accessories and asked the supplier to deliver it direct to site, but since neither me nor my hubby were available to receive the delivery, we were not able to check the items delivered against the purchase order. As you can see, this delivery was asked to be made in good faith that the supplier would supply all materials at site correctly. Then, I receive this phone call from my ID saying “Did you not order the taps for the wash basins? Do you realize you need a bracket to attach the glass sink to the wall?” My heart nearly sank. I was like….”Look, hello, I do know that there is a bracket requirement, and I’ve already ordered it, and asked it to be delivered. It IS there (unshakeable trust on the supplier)! So, please ask your installer to check again.” Then, I call up my supplier asking her if every item has been delivered. And she gives me the assurance that all has been packed safely and delivered to site already. Then again my ID calls me, and says, “My plumber is still unable to find it”…at this point he gets a call on the other line, he puts me on hold and later speaks into the line saying all the items are there! My sunken heart leaps up. Then he says “By the way, the wall tiles are already broken in the common bathroom…” (my poor heart sinks again) “but not to worry, I’ll do sumthin about it”. Both my husband and I are looking expectantly forward to the day that all renovation works would be completed, all items delivered and we settled in….at this point, I am searching high and low for a magical wand…. Trust me!!!

Husband Appreciation Day??!!!
I couldn't believe the absurdity of the existence of such a day: 'Husband Appreciation Day"!! To start off with, it sounds so lame, and imagine going up to your hubby and wishing him "Happy Husband Appreciation Day, honey!" He'll probably drive you to a psychiatrist immediately. The wishing phrase (as in 'Happy Birthday, Happy Mother's Day etc), doesnt have a proper flow in this case...it's such a draggy phrase; a wish should be short, sweet and to the point.
I believe the basic idea for commemorating such a day is to, not take ur spouse for granted. It might attract newly weds, but I still doubt the success of this celebration. Seriously, how many of u have been willing participants of the observance of such a day? I happened to chance upon an ad from the e-cards website I patronize, through which I have come to learn about this day! Let me pull myself out of this shock b4 i write further....

Gen Y or Gen I ???
Is the term Generation Y? Or is "Generation I" a more apt term to define those born between 1977 and 1994? The "I" here represents Internet and this is why, gen Y doesnt gel well with gen X. Gen Y is very dependent on the World Wide Web, where everything and anything under the sun is available. It is no surprise why search engine such as Google is as successful as it is right now. The sheer size of Gen Y, which is more the 3x the size of Gen X, speaks for itself on the success of the information technology. No wonder Gen X is wary of its successor.
Thanks to Gen Y, u have terms such as "Googling" proliferating among the youth of today, including young professionals. The power of the Internet has been realized. Internet has mushroomed into millions of homes today. So isnt the term "Gen I" more apt for those who have made Internet what it is today. The success of the product should be attributed to the user and not the creator.
So, is the next generation after Gen Y gonna upkeep the internet? Once again the success is owed to the user....however kids these days seem to be engulfed in computer Games and electronic gadgets than to fully utilize what the world wide web has to offer....is this an indicator of the decline of the internet dynasty???

Sincere Apologies
To the one or 2 souls who keep abreast with my postings, sorry darlings for not having the time to post anything of late. Been really tied down with looking for a house. Property prices are like WOW!!SKY HIGH is the phrase!!!!
There's always this bugging question in me....are the biological differences in man and woman the root cause of ALL misuderstandings that arise between them? According to me, it's yet another lame excuse for those who do not have the time and patience to sit and talk thru things (and I have to own up of being most guilty of this). It's not as if once u understand the biology of a man (or a woman for that matter), u r struck by a bolt of lightning and ta-daaaa, u FULLY accept the person's character, views, behaviour etc!!! Sounds a teeny weeny bit (in fact downright) ridiculous, doesn't it? Just goes to show how we, the creatures with six senses, come up with SUCH justifications for our actions. No wonder the sixth sense (filled with ridiculous BUT creative juices to derive with justifications)! Ok, I know I sound like the ungrateful kind despite being bestowed upon me the privileges of a higher living being. So let me move on.
Understanding another person (regardless of whether the person is of the opposite gender or one of ur own) is to relate to that person in an emotional level (don't worry guys, I ain't a Shrink, and neither am I on my way to becoming one). This is something that I prescribe to and once I relate to someone on an emotional level, their physicality ceases to exist for me i.e to say, if someone were to come up and ask me if I find this particular friend of mine, attractive looking, I am unable to answer cos they are more than just a person with such and such physical attributes.
At the same time, being able to relate to another person on an emotional level DOESN'T mean that I wouldn't have any arguments with that person. Arguments will still arise, despite knowing full well that some topics/ issues will irritate or anger the other person. This is so because, as an individual, I am entitled to my own thoughts and feelings and I have to let it out. So I guess, that is how I come to terms with the arguments (note: arguments and NOT misunderstandings) that I have with near and dear.

The Big 'M' (Media)
The media has probably developed into as powerful a weapon as the latest invention of a destructive war missile. It affects everyday lives in such a major way. So what exactly is expected of someone associated with the media? As much as popular media personnel say that they are being deprived of the simplicity of a common man's lifestyle, they should be well aware that this is an inevitable aspect of being in the public eye.
Criticisms, rumours, invasion of privacy are all terms that should be second nature to these personalities. What with the far reach of the current day media, these media personnel might have some ardent fan/admirer in the other end of the globe, mimmicking and following every single part of his or her idol. As such, despite the pressures, a public figure has got to maintain a certain decorum, and a level of professionalism. And if one feels that this aint his/her cup of tea, that person should seriously contemplate about continuing in the media.
What has spurred this issue is the fact that they are loads of immature beings these days, put in the show biz, who are totally incapable of handling the pressures. And these are the very people who keep making the news, till they rot to their last bits. To the tabloids and those who follow such news, it's a momentary sensation, but to the one in question, the one who is at the centre of the whole mess, it's hell. The media is not for the weak hearted. Every itsy bitsy news has to be taken in good stride. I was watching this Jodi No. 1, a TV (reality) show over the weekend. It's basically a dance competition between popular TV stars in India, telecasted by Vijay TV. What caught my attention the most is the immaturity of one of the participants, who is an anchor for a variety program. She was not able to control her emotions. She was such a child, she could not even articulate her arguments properly to the judges, at the end of her performance, cos her eyes were brimming with tears. Basically, her complaint was that her partner on the program didnt co-operate with her. I found the idea that they, not being able to settle their differences off the camera, so funny. The whole issue was being blown out of proportion. I mean, she is literally too young (prob ony 15-16 yrs of age), to handle the vastness of the media. And the whole thing was way too dramatic. It's just the startof the new season of this show, and the hype has already begun. One has to wait to see wat more drama is in store for the audience, this season.
The bitter truth is that the media is out to devour you, as long as you are part of it. Both physical and mental strength are required to survive in that ocean. So, my best wishes to all those out there!!!
